BIOSILK Ergonomic Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron

Yesterday, I purchased the BIOSILK Ergonomic Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron, 1" wide, by Farouk. I believe it's from the same makers as CHI. I've seen prices online for this flat iron from $70 to $100 & up. Let me tell you this...the price I spent was not even close. It cost me $40 at Marshalls! That's a pretty good deal to me considering I'm very frugal when it comes to buying products.

This is my second flat iron and I am glad that I didn't pay as much as the original. My first flat iron was a Conair from Wal-mart back when I was in high school. I can't remember how much it was, but online, I'm seeing it priced approximately $20.

Here are photos I took of the straightener:

Issue: A gap when clasped

Function:
Multiple styling abilities with one tool: smooth, straight, spike, piece, swirl, curl, flip, bend

Features:
-Tourmaline ceramic plate for silky hair
-Adjustable temperature control
-On/Off switch
-Swivel cord

What I like:
-Heats up quick
-Adjustable Temperature Control (180-420)
-Easy access to On/Off switch
-Swivel cord (Hooray! Tangles be gone)
-Smooth hair after use
-Curls last about 5 hours without hair spray (no products beside heat protectant)

What I dislike:
-Hair gets pulled slightly (tolerable, just don't rush)
-Gap when iron is clasped (I would have to clasped it harder for it to close)
-Hair doesn't curl easily (With my fine hair, I would set the temperature to 300 degrees, while also having applied heat protectant and just curl slowly)

Immediately right when I got home, I opened up the box and tried it out. I'm liking it so far. For the price I paid, I'm not complaining. Though it doesn't seem to curl well for my fine hair, that might not be the case for others with different hair types. In the past with my hair, I've always had trouble curling my hair with a straightener, but if it's set to a high temperature and done fairly slow, it will curl. I haven't tried any other styles besides the curling.

I will update later on how it is going with the straightener.
